Why is there a need for women’s science?
When we look at epistemologies based on the positivist understanding of science, we see the reality of a woman whose existence is defined by biological characteristics, created from the rib of men, and reduced to the position of the oppressed and a means of reproduction and maintenance of men. In the face of the forced adoption of this reality by women as the truth, we can say that a process of change has started with the emergence of the ground for women to access real knowledge through research centers. Women’s science, as a new science, actually finds its own language in this method of thinking. For thousands of years, societies have created and maintained themselves; The poetic, mythological, fairy-tale language in which it makes sense of and expresses the universe, life and death, good and evil, pain and happiness is the language that is closest to the essence of life. It is the language and method in which man will best feel and find that he is the offspring of mother nature. We cannot consider mythologies disconnected from life science. The stories in fairy tales and epics tell us the truth. For example, in Rojava, a picture of a basilisk is hung in almost every house. When we ask about the meaning of this, it is said that it is a symbol of betrayal and resistance. Again, the hermel plant is hung on the door of every house, and it is believed to be both a source of healing and to prevent negative energy from entering that house. The fact that we live concretely in our society proves that these knowledge and beliefs, which are touted as superstition and superstition by the dominant science, are not just beliefs, but real life knowledge that has been tried and tested for thousands of years, and that societies continue their lives based on this information without the need for state mechanisms and tools. Throughout history, heroic epics that have not been included in written history, the people have narrated it in their own way, turned it into a tale and expressed the truth in this way. For this reason, we consider mythologies as a method of understanding, interpreting and life science in our research.
