We can say that women’s education starts with a journey process into ourselves with the questioning of “Who am I?”, what is a woman, who is a man, family and existing backward traditional relationships. We can also call this the process of testing one’s strength, self-confidence, and self-determination against learned and accustomed helplessness. The courage to say “I exist”, “I am me” in the face of the objectified reality of women in all of life requires a difficult process. This is how we can define the first difficulties with our research center experiences. However, there is also a duality. With this questioning, it also becomes the beginning of the process of self-creation. Many of our colleagues have been able to make a lot of progress. Many of our female friends, who see life limited to their own home, city or village, are now giving gyneology training in academies and making sociological analyzes according to their research topics. This process is also the process of women working and living communally with women, their efforts to be friends, and the process of building the relationships of the new life. It is a great pleasure to see that women can read, research, share what they research with their friends and society, support each other, improve each other, and overcome the feeling of loneliness. In our workshops, which range from mythology readings to philosophical and religious readings and discussions, each of us touches the spirit of life, actually our souls and thoughts. Because we, women, who dedicate our lives to the welfare and happiness of men, realize that we need the existence of living spaces where we create ourselves, beyond a place where we return to ourselves and recognize and define ourselves. One of the reasons why we call women’s science the science of free homolife, the science of life, the science of women is due to the language it uses. This language is not a language of conventional memorization, cliché or dogma. With education and discussion methods that question and criticize the way of thinking, a language that opens horizons in people’s thoughts, encourages them to make sense of it and think freely. Many different methods are also used in these educational environments where common experiences are shared and discussed. In fact, we gain a communal spirit with educational activities. The çîroks are listened to and the plot is analyzed
social problems and forms of relationship are discussed. Through theaters, gender stereotypes are tried to be overcome. For example, women state that the first means of production of women in the women and economy workshop are forgotten today and that tools such as destar, teşi, meşk, which are found to be backward traditional and unused due to postmodernist approaches, have regained meaning and knowledge value in gyneology research and education. Of course, their lives do not change suddenly as if touched by a magic wand, but we can observe that the preliminary steps of an enlightenment are taken, albeit small. Participants can write their concentrations and share their efforts and expectations about how to live ethically and aesthetically with women and society. Especially men’s writings in this direction are gaining intensity. This is a questioning of constructed hegemonic masculinity. We find it very important that thousands of Arab women participate in these seminars and academy trainings, discuss their problems, and discuss their relationships and lives in the same environment, especially in regions where Arab women are concentrated. Again, early marriages and polygamy are seen as a problem that is questioned and discussed represents a change.Self-defense consciousness defending life against deathAs we mentioned above, our trainings cover all segments of society. Among these, another area that attracts the most attention and deepens the discussions is military field training. While militarist thought is escalated all over the world and there is excessive armament, and the mentality underlying this is aimed at protecting the hegemonic masculinity and system, the struggle carried out with the awareness of self-defense in Rojava and North East Syria expresses a reality that beautifies life, develops social solidarity, and both men and women fight at the front and build life. Our self-defense trainings are based on the depth of the philosophy of “Those who love life enough to die for it”. Self-defense is a way of life that does not destroy, plunder, or migrate while fighting, that protects the existence of all living things, that does not invade the lands of other peoples. While a new life is being built in Rojava and Northeast Syria on the axis of the Democratic Autonomy model, the mechanism for protecting its existence and life is, of course, on the basis of the creation and development of the people’s own self-defense force, unlike the militarist army structures based on the nation-state paradigm.
